SAys tanker Barakah was empty when hit by two drones; no injuries were reported in Gulf waters
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Monday condemned an “Iranian drone attack” on commercial vessels linked to the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) as they transited the Strait of Hormuz.
In a statement, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the incident as a “blatant violation” of UN Security Council resolutions that stress freedom of navigation and prohibit attacks on commercial shipping or disruption of international maritime routes. It said two drones were used in the attack.
ADNOC’s maritime energy logistics unit said the vessel, Barakah, was empty when it was struck by two drones. No injuries were reported.
“The UAE further stressed the need for Iran to halt these unprovoked attacks, ensure its full commitment to an immediate cessation of all hostilities, and the complete and unconditional reopening of the Strait of Hormuz,” the foreign ministry said.
No injuries were reported.

The ministry said targeting commercial vessels and using the Strait of Hormuz as a means of pressure or economic coercion amounted to “acts of piracy” by Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guard Corps and posed a direct threat to regional stability and global energy security.
The UAE called on Iran to halt such actions, end hostilities, and ensure the full and unconditional reopening of the strait to safeguard regional security and global trade stability.
The state-owned ADNOC is one of the largest oil and gas producers in the world, serving as the primary engine for the UAE’s economic growth.

Iran has blocked entry and exit from the Gulf to most non-Iranian ships since the United States and Israel began attacking it on February 28. It has threatened to target unauthorised vessels transiting the Strait, a critical route that carries around one-fifth of the world’s oil and gas shipments.
The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) agency said earlier that a tanker reported being hit by unknown projectiles approximately 78 nautical miles north of the UAE’s Fujairah.
