Parts of Karachi may experience low gas pressure on Sunday following scheduled maintenance work on a 24-inch Qatar mainline in the Sher Shah area, Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) said in a statement.

The maintenance-related shutdown is scheduled to begin at 10pm today and continue until 9am on Sunday, October 18, according to a media alert issued by the gas utility.

SSGC said the work had been scheduled during the hours when domestic gas supply was normally suspended. However, any extension beyond the stipulated period could result in low gas pressure in several neighbourhoods.

In Orangi Town, the areas that may experience low pressure include Gulshan-e-Bahar Colony, Gulshan-e-Zia Colony, Sector 16, Ghaziabad, Altaf Nagar, Mehran City and Ramzan Goth.

The SITE Industrial Area may also be affected if the maintenance work takes longer than scheduled. The SSGC apologised to consumers for any inconvenience caused by the maintenance work.
