Six Frontier Constabulary (FCN) personnel were martyred and four were injured while responding to an attempt by terrorists to capture a post in Peshawar’s Hassan Khel area on Monday, sources told Dawn.
The sources said that three FCN personnel were being held hostage by terrorists.
Eight terrorists have also been killed in retaliatory action by FCN personnel, and the attempt to capture the post was foiled, according to sources.
The sources said that security force personnel also reached the site of the incident, and they have cordoned off the area.
The action against terrorists by security forces was ongoing, they said.
There has been a resurgence in terrorism in Pakistan since the Afghan Taliban returned to power in Kabul in 2021.
Islamabad has repeatedly urged the Taliban administration to dismantle terrorist sanctuaries on Afghan soil, particularly those linked to the banned TTP. Officials say those appeals have gone unheeded.
