The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the nominees for the Player of the Month awards for February, highlighting standout performances across international cricket.
The shortlist features key contributors from the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy and the Women’s Ashes, alongside a rising star from Thailand.
Men’s Player of the Month Nominees
Shubman Gill (India)
Gill continued his fine form in February, scoring 406 runs at an average exceeding 100. His performances against England included knocks of 87 and 60, followed by a match-winning 112 in Ahmedabad.
He then carried that momentum into the Champions Trophy, where he scored an unbeaten 101 against Bangladesh.
Glenn Phillips (New Zealand)
Phillips delivered with the bat in the Tri-Nation series in Pakistan before the Champions Trophy. He struck an explosive 106 in Lahore, followed by scores of 28 and 20.
In New Zealand’s Champions Trophy opener, he contributed a quick 61 and took a crucial catch to dismiss Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan in a 60-run victory.
Steve Smith (Australia)
Smith excelled as Australia’s stand-in captain during their World Test Championship series in Sri Lanka.
He scored centuries in both matches, with 141 in the first Test and 131 in the second, leading his team to a 2-0 series sweep and earning the Player of the Series honour.
Smith, who recently announced his retirement from ODI cricket, bowed out with a half-century in his final ODI game against India in the semi-final of the ICC Champions Trophy.
Voting Process
The winners will be determined by an independent ICC Voting Academy and fan votes. The Voting Academy consists of journalists, former players, broadcasters, and ICC Hall of Fame members, accounting for 90% of the vote.
Fans can vote via the ICC website, contributing the remaining 10%. The winners will be announced next week on ICC’s digital platforms.
