The Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, is scheduled to hold a press conference at 3 PM today (Monday) at the General Headquarters to discuss the nation’s security situation.

The presser will follow rising terrorism in Pakistan and the role of the army in countering that.

Earlier on July 22, the ISPR in its presser reflected on Operation Azm-e-Istakham operation, digital terrorism, the stance on the TLP sit-in, and the Palestine conflict.

DG ISPR Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry clarified that Operation Azm-e-Istehkam is a counter-terrorism campaign, not a military operation, and criticized efforts to politicize it. He stated that comparing it to past military operations like Zarb-e-Azb is inappropriate and mentioned that a strong lobby opposes the National Action Plan’s success.

Chaudhry emphasized that the operation aims to break the link between terrorism and crime, such as smuggling and benami properties. He highlighted that narratives are being created to make the operation controversial and stressed that it is vital for national survival.

On digital terrorism, the DG ISPR warned of misinformation campaigns targeting the military and its leadership on social media, comparing digital terrorists to physical terrorists, saying they spread lies and fake news to destabilize the nation.

Regarding recent events, Chaudhry addressed rumors about the military’s involvement in protests, such as the TLP sit-in at Faizabad, stating they were false. He reiterated that the military and government were focused on resolving issues peacefully.

Additionally, Chaudhry mentioned the Chaman border sit-in, which was resolved by accepting demands for cross-border movement documentation. He criticized the promotion of illegal trade at the Afghan border.
