Younis Khan optimistic about Pakistan’s chances at Champions Trophy

Former Pakistan cricket captain Younis Khan has expressed high hopes for the national team in the upcoming Champions Trophy, backing them to defend their title successfully.

Speaking as the chief guest at the closing ceremony of the Munchi Premier League Season 4 at Asghar Ali Shah Stadium, Khan stated that Pakistan’s recent performances have been impressive, making him optimistic about their chances.

He particularly praised the team’s strong showings against Australia, Zimbabwe, and South Africa, adding that such performances suggest Pakistan has a solid chance to reach the victory stand in the Champions Trophy and raise the national flag in triumph.

“I believe the team can make it to the victory stand in the Champions Trophy and lift the national flag,” Khan said.

The former captain also emphasised the importance of renewing the cricketing rivalry between Pakistan and India. He pointed out that such a series would not only benefit the sport but also improve diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Additionally, Younis Khan stressed the significance of community cricket for the development of new talent, urging the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to continue supporting grassroots cricket to bring fresh faces to the forefront.

In the final of the Munchi Premier League, played at Asghar Ali Shah Stadium, Syed Badshah Club defeated Maulvi Lions by seven wickets. Khan distributed the prizes to the winning team and other participants during the ceremony.
