The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has announced official Eid-ul-Fitr holidays for the public sector, with the break set to last from 1 to 3 Shawwal, according to a circular issued by the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR).

Government employees will resume work on 4 Shawwal, the Khaleej Times reported. If Ramadan lasts 30 days, an additional holiday will be granted on 30 Ramadan, effectively extending the Eid break.

No official announcement has been made regarding Eid holidays for the private sector. However, reports suggest that private-sector employees may receive a similar holiday schedule.

Eid-ul-Fitr will fall on Sunday, 30 March, if the new moon is sighted on the evening of 29 March (Saturday). In this case, public sector holidays will run from Sunday to Tuesday, giving most employees a four-day weekend from Saturday to Tuesday.

If the moon is not sighted on 29 March, Ramadan will extend to 30 days, and Eid will begin on Monday, 31 March. In this scenario, the holiday will last until Wednesday, 2 April, providing a five-day weekend for many workers.
