Two students were wounded in a shooting at Antioch High School on Wednesday, reportedly carried out by another student in the school cafeteria, Metro Nashville Police confirmed.

The school district announced that Antioch High School, which serves approximately 2,000 students in grades 9-12, was placed on lockdown following the incident. “The person responsible for the shooting is no longer a threat,” the district assured in a statement. Authorities are gathering students in the auditorium and will provide details on reunification with families soon.

According to police, the suspected shooter turned the weapon on himself after the attack. The conditions of the injured students have not yet been disclosed.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives is also involved in the investigation as law enforcement continues to secure the scene and gather evidence.
