Three soldiers were martyred and five Fitna al Khawarij terrorists killed as security forces successfully thwarted an infiltration attempt at the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Bajaur district, the military’s media wing reported on Monday.

According to a press release from the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), the incident occurred on Sunday night, when security forces detected the movement of a group of insurgents attempting to cross the border from Afghanistan into Pakistan.

The security forces engaged the infiltrators, preventing their entry into Pakistan. As a result of the exchange of fire, five insurgents were killed, and four others were injured.

During the operation, three soldiers fought valiantly and were martyred. The ISPR identified them as 36-year-old Naik Inayat Khan from Khyber district, 35-year-old Lance Naik Umer Hayat from Mansehra district, and 25-year-old Sepoy Waqar Khan from Peshawar district.

The ISPR reiterated Pakistan’s ongoing request for the Afghan government to ensure effective border management on their side, stressing the need to prevent Afghan territory from being used by terrorists to launch attacks against Pakistan.

The statement also emphasised the commitment of Pakistan’s security forces to securing the nation’s borders, noting that the sacrifices of the soldiers would only strengthen their resolve to combat terrorism.
