The Tezgam Express, travelling from Karachi to Rawalpindi, derailed at Rohri station, with one of its bogies leaving the track.

Upon receiving the report of the incident, a crane was dispatched from the loco shed to promptly restore the derailed bogie onto the track, Express News reported.

Railway sources have confirmed that the accident has blocked the up-track, causing damage to the rails. As a result, several trains have been delayed, unable to proceed to their destinations.

The Bahauddin Zakariya Express has been halted at Begamaji station, while the Shah Hussain Express, Green Line Express, and Fareed Express have been stopped at different stations.

Railway officials have initiated an investigation into the accident and repair work is underway to restore the track and resume train services as soon as possible.

Last month, Shalimar Express, traveling from Lahore to Karachi, derailed near Shahdara area of Punjab’s Lahore disctrict.

The derailment, which took place near Barkat Town, narrowly avoided a major catastrophe, a local news channel reported.

The train, instead of toppling into a populated area, got stuck in the middle of a bridge, preventing further damage.
