Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah reiterated the Sindh government’s unwavering commitment to fostering large-scale industrial growth within the province, underscoring the administration’s role in supporting initiatives that drive economic progress and environmental sustainability. His remarks came during a visit to the Indus Motor Company (IMC) manufacturing facility at Port Qasim Authority (PQA) on Monday.
During his visit, the chief minister received a comprehensive briefing on the company’s recent export initiatives, marking significant milestones for the automotive industry in Pakistan. Last year, IMC began exporting raw materials to Egypt, an achievement that underscores the company’s expanding global footprint. More recently, the company has initiated the export of Toyota vehicles to Oceanian countries, including models such as the Toyota Fortuner, Hilux, and Corolla Cross, further solidifying its position in international markets.
In his address, Shah commended IMC for setting a new benchmark in the automotive industry, particularly through its dedication to innovation and sustainability. He acknowledged the substantial financial investment in state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities and human capital, which he said is a testament to the company’s unwavering focus on the quality and safety of its products. The Sindh government, he assured, remains committed to supporting such initiatives that not only stimulate economic growth within the province but also contribute to environmental responsibility across the entire nation. He stated, “We will continue to work closely with stakeholders in the local auto industry to ensure a conducive environment that encourages further development and innovation.”
Indus Motor Company CEO Ali Asghar Jamali also spoke on the occasion, stressing the importance of stable government policies to sustain and enhance growth within the automotive sector. He remarked that the chief minister’s visit reaffirms the government’s support for industrial growth and the development of skilled labour in Pakistan, positioning the country as a significant player in the global automotive industry. Jamali requested the government’s continued support in maintaining consistent long-term policies that encourage investment and development in the automotive sector, as well as in curbing the influx of illegally imported used cars, which have significantly increased in FY23-24, posing challenges to the local industry.
