Shab-e-Barat being observed with religious fervour across country

Muslims across Pakistan are observing Shab-e-Barat, the night of forgiveness, with religious devotion and reverence.

Special gatherings, including Quranic recitations, sermons, and prayers, are being held in mosques and religious institutions to mark the occasion. Scholars and clerics are delivering sermons highlighting the significance of the night, which is considered a time for seeking divine mercy and forgiveness.

Many devotees are spending the night in worship, reciting the Holy Quran and Darood Sharif, and offering Nawafil prayers. Mosques remain illuminated as the faithful seek Allah’s blessings for prosperity and well-being.

According to Islamic tradition, Shab-e-Barat falls on the night between the 14th and 15th of Shaban, the eighth month of the Islamic calendar. It is believed to be a night when destinies for the coming year are determined.

Many Muslims are visiting cemeteries to offer prayers for their departed loved ones. Fasting on the day after Shab-e-Barat is also observed as an act of devotion, with believers seeking spiritual purification and divine blessings.

Authorities have made special arrangements to ensure security around mosques, graveyards and shrines where large congregations are taking place.
