Mumbai police have successfully dismantled a high-profile sex racket operating out of a hotel in the Hiranandani area of Powai, arresting 60-year-old Shyamsunder Arora and rescuing four women working in the film industry.
The operation began after authorities were alerted to the illegal activities at the hotel. Acting on a tip-off, police set up a sting operation by contacting Arora under a fake customer identity.
Arora reportedly offered models aged between 26 and 35 years, charging between Rs 70,000 and Rs 1 lakh per model.
After sending pictures of the women, claiming they were from the film industry, Arora arranged to bring them to the hotel. The police, waiting outside, swiftly raided the location as Arora arrived with the women.
During the raid, police rescued four models, arrested Arora, and seized eight mobile phones and INR 0.3 million in cash.
Following his arrest, Arora disclosed the involvement of another individual based in Charkop, and police are currently searching for this additional suspect.
The Powai Police have filed charges against Shyamsunder Arora under Section 143(2) of the Bombay Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, along with Sections 4 and 5 of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act (ITPA), 1956.
The rescued women have been sent to a shelter home for support and assistance.
