The Supreme Court of Pakistan has delisted the case concerning election tribunals in Punjab. The case was scheduled to be heard on August 19 by a five-member larger bench headed by Chief Justice Qazi Faiz Isa.
Sources indicated on Sunday that the case was removed from the list due to the unavailability of Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail. Advocate Hamid Khan had also requested a postponement of the hearing.
Previously, the Lahore High Court had decided to establish eight election tribunals, a decision that was challenged by the Election Commission in the Supreme Court.
The Supreme Court had suspended both the Lahore High Court’s decision to form the election tribunals and the Election Commission’s notification dated April 26.
