Liverpool extended their lead at the top of the Premier League to nine points with a 2-0 victory over Bournemouth, as Mohamed Salah continued his superb form, scoring both goals.
The win, which took Liverpool’s points tally to 56 from 23 games, showcased Salah’s brilliance as he took his season tally to 21 goals.
The match, played at Bournemouth’s Vitality Stadium, saw Liverpool weather some early pressure from the hosts, who were unbeaten in their last 11 league games.
Bournemouth had their chances, including two shots that hit the woodwork – one from Antoine Semenyo in the first half and another from Marcus Tavernier just before Salah sealed the points in the 75th minute.
Salah’s first goal came in the 30th minute, a calm penalty after Cody Gakpo was fouled in the area by Bournemouth’s Lewis Cook.
Despite some lively attacking play from Bournemouth, who had beaten other top-four teams at home this season, Liverpool’s defensive resilience, led by Virgil van Dijk, ensured they maintained their advantage.

The game was effectively decided in the 75th minute when Salah curled in a stunning second goal with his left foot, sending him to sixth place on the Premier League’s all-time scoring list with 178 goals, surpassing Frank Lampard.
Bournemouth’s frustrations grew when a goal by David Brooks was ruled out for offside after a VAR review, and they were unable to find the equalizer.
The result condemned them to their first league loss since November, leaving them in seventh place.
With 15 games remaining, Liverpool look in formidable form as they march towards the title, with second-placed Arsenal and Nottingham Forest trailing by nine points.
