PESHAWAR:
The Peshawar High Court (PHC) granted protective bail to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Senator Faisal Javed and directed the authorities not to arrest him.
The court also sought details of cases against the senator in two weeks.
Peshawar High Court Justice S M Ateeq Shah and Justice Fahim heard the petition of the PTI senator seeking protective bail and details of the cases against him.
Justice Shah asked Senator Javed about his vision for the youth of the province, saying 70 percent of the youth are jobless.
The senator replied, “Your question is very good. Seventy percent population of the province consists of youngsters,” adding the youth are the country’s asset.
Justice S M Ateeq Shah remarked the youth are getting addicted to crystal meth. The situation warrants action for youngsters on war-footing basis. Neighbouring country India is making rapid advances in the field of IT as their incomes from the sector reaches $380 billion. The judge remarked that establishing university campuses is not enough, adding “do something for the skills development of the youth”.
Faisal Javed again seconded the judge’s remarks, saying, “What you are saying is right. There is a need to take steps for the youngsters.”
Faisal Javed’s lawyer Alam Khan Adenzai Advocate told the court cases have been registered against his client but details are not being provided.
The court ordered that Faisal Javed not be arrested in any case. The court also ordered authorities to furnish details of the cases against the senator in 14 days.
Talking to media after the hearing, Senator Faisal Javed said PTI workers are being detained despite the dialogue process. “The talks cannot go on in this way” said Javed, demanding the government to stop such tactics.
