A meeting regarding Sohrab Goth Town was held with the Local Government Minister Saeed Ghani in the chair.
A delegation of the Supreme Council of All Pakistan Transporters met the local government minister in his office. The delegation briefed the provincial minister about the problems they have been facing. The minister said that after the alarming increase in accidents and traffic jams in the city, it has become necessary for the government to take strict measures.
Ghani has said that the provincial government has formulated a strategy to prevent traffic jams and accidents in Karachi. Soon a campaign would be launched to end encroachment in all towns by taking all stakeholders into confidence.
Ghani said that all the legitimate demands of the transport community would also be met. However, the entry of heavy transport and buses in the city has been banned due to the sudden increase in accidents and traffic jams.
Additional Chief Secretary Sindh, Syed Khalid Haider Shah, Town Chairman Lala Rahim, Deputy Commissioner East, Abrar Jafar, DIG East Usman Ghani, SSP East, Dr. Farrukh Raja, Senior Director Anti-Encroachment Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), Ammar Khan, Director Headquarters Anti-Encroachment KMC, Saim Imran Khan, Municipal Commissioner Sohrab Goth Town and others attended the meeting.
The transporters delegation was led by the Senior Vice Chairman of the Supreme Council, Malik Riaz Awan, while the delegation included President Sindh Air Conditioning Bus Owners, Haji Amanullah, Haji Muhammad Shafiq, Lala Afzal, Raja Naveed, Haji Muhammad Ashiq, Arshad Gujjar, Sardar Muhammad Ashraf, Muhammad Bashir, Mumtaz Awan and others were also part of the delegation.
