ISLAMABAD:
The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has approved an increase in electricity prices under quarterly and fuel price adjustments, while also reducing charges by 37 paisa per unit for July’s fuel cost adjustment.
In a statement issued by NEPRA on Friday, it was confirmed that a quarterly adjustment of Rs1.75 per unit has been approved and sent to the federal government. This adjustment will be reflected in the bills for September, October, and November.
Additionally, the Rs0.93 per unit adjustment from the third quarter of FY 2023-24 will end in August, with a further increase of Rs0.82 per unit in September’s bills due to the new quarterly adjustment.
NEPRA also approved a reduction of 37 paisa per unit in July’s monthly fuel charges, which will provide some relief to consumers in their September bills.
A public hearing on the adjustment was held on August 28.
Earlier, a fuel charge adjustment of Rs2.56 per unit was included in August’s bills for June. However, with the new reductions, consumers will see a net relief of Rs2.11 per unit in their September bills.
