Former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Faisal Vawda has declared the recent elections as a “Go Nawaz Go” moment, citing a lack of a clear majority for any single party.
Speaking to Express News on Thursday, Vawda asserted that if former prime minister and PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif insists on a fourth term with coalition support, the emerging government is likely to face internal challenges, especially with PPP co-chairperson Asif Ali Zardari in opposition.
Vawda expressed surprise at the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) leading on more seats than expected in Karachi, terming it a “surprise” development. He warned that if the Pakistan Peoples Party joins the opposition with independent candidates, the country could face destruction within 6-7 months.

Highlighting the alleged “sale of independents”, Vawda claimed that traders have arrived in Islamabad, and the next 72 hours will prove his predictions true. He recalled historical precedents, citing the independent candidates’ game during Junejo’s tenure in 1985.
The former PTI leader argued that the party’s popularity is independent of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) government’s unpopularity. Vawda, who claimed to have foreseen the current results for months, emphasised that the political parties have already begun efforts to purchase independents. However, he reassured that known figures like Salman Akram Raja would remain loyal.
Predicting the aftermath, Vawda speculated that recognised faces would align with the opposition, while lesser-known figures who secured seats with PTI backing would join the treasury benches. As the political landscape continues to evolve, Vawda’s observations raise questions about the stability and dynamics of the post-election scenario in Pakistan.
