Olympic gold medallist Arshad Nadeem received a grand welcome upon his return to his hometown, Mian Channu in Punjab.
The javelin thrower, who made history at the Paris Olympics 2024, was showered with flowers as he arrived in his native village.
Residents of Mian Channu, along with Arshad’s family and friends, gathered in large numbers to celebrate his achievement.
Addressing the crowd, Arshad expressed his gratitude to everyone who supported him, saying, “I want to thank the entire nation, especially Mian Channu, for showing me so much love.”
Earlier in the day, the gold medallist had arrived at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport, where he was greeted with a water cannon salute and an overwhelming show of support from fans and officials.
Among those present to welcome him were prominent political figures, including Ahsan Iqbal and Khawaja Saad Rafique, who congratulated him on his historic victory.
After a brief stop at the Tablighi Markaz in Raiwind for morning prayers, Nadeem made his way to Mian Channu, where the celebrations continued.
His arrival was marked by music, flowers, and a police escort as he toured Lahore in a double-decker bus before heading to his village.
The joy and pride of the local community were palpable as they welcomed their hero home.
