Independence Day celebrations marred by aerial firing, injuring several including child

Uncontrolled aerial firing during Independence Day celebrations in Karachi resulted in multiple injuries, including that of a child, as stray bullets struck people in different parts of the city.

According to Express News, two individuals, including a child, were injured by stray bullets in the Nazimabad and Orangi Town areas of Karachi on Wednesday, August 14.

On Tuesday night, over 70 people, including women and children, were injured due to indiscriminate aerial firing across the city during Independence Day festivities. The widespread firing also highlighted the prevalence of illegal firearms in Karachi.

A Chhipa official reported that in Central District, near Madina Mosque in Nazimabad No. 1, a 45-year-old man named Saleh was injured when a bullet struck his arm. He was promptly taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medical treatment.

In West District, near Sheermal House in Orangi Town No. 1, an 8-year-old boy named Abdul Hadi was injured when a stray bullet struck his shoulder, according to Chhipa officials.
