In a highly anticipated ICC Champions Trophy 2025 Group A match at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, India secured a commanding six-wicket victory over arch-rivals Pakistan.

Chasing a target of 242, India reached the required runs with 7.3 overs to spare, propelled by Virat Kohli’s unbeaten century.

Opting to bat first, Pakistan faced early challenges. Mohammad Shami’s opening over included five wides, but the Indian bowlers quickly regained control. Babar Azam contributed 23 runs before being dismissed by Hardik Pandya, who also removed Imam-ul-Haq for 10, leaving Pakistan at 41/2.

Saud Shakeel (62) and Mohammad Rizwan (46) steadied the innings, forming a 100-run partnership. However, Kuldeep Yadav’s spin proved decisive, as he claimed 3 wickets for 40 runs, helping India restrict Pakistan to 241 all out with two deliveries remaining.

India’s pursuit began with a brisk start from Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill, who added 31 runs in the first five overs. Rohit was dismissed for 20 by Shaheen Shah Afridi, but Gill continued his fine form, contributing 46 runs.

Kohli then anchored the chase, forming a 96-run partnership with Gill and later a 114-run stand with Shreyas Iyer, who made 56 runs. Despite quick dismissals of Iyer and Hardik Pandya, Kohli remained steadfast, reaching his century and guiding India to victory.

With this win, India tops Group A with four points from two matches, while Pakistan remains at the bottom without any points, effectively ending their tournament run.

New Zealand holds second place with two points, and Bangladesh is third, aiming to secure their first points in the upcoming match against New Zealand on Monday.
