Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Jordan’s King Abdullah II reiterated the unity of their positions on Gaza during a meeting on Wednesday, as they discussed the reconstruction of the war-torn region.
The leaders emphasized their commitment to preserving Palestinian land and opposing the forced displacement of Palestinians, which has been a point of contention in the ongoing discussions with the United States.
The statements from both the Egyptian presidency and the Jordanian royal court underscored their shared stance against Trump’s proposed plan to relocate Palestinians from Gaza to Egypt and Jordan.
This comes after US President Donald Trump’s discussions with King Abdullah II on Tuesday in Washington, where he suggested the possibility of halting aid to both countries if they refuse to accept Palestinian refugees.
Despite the pressure, both Egypt and Jordan remain firm in their position, rejecting any forced displacement. King Abdullah reaffirmed Jordan’s stance on social media, calling it a “unified Arab position.” Meanwhile, Egypt announced plans to host an Arab summit later this month to present a comprehensive vision for Gaza’s reconstruction while ensuring the preservation of Palestinian lands.
The leaders also expressed their willingness to cooperate with Trump in efforts to achieve a just and lasting peace in the Middle East, as they continue to navigate the delicate situation.
