Karachi experienced the coldest night of this winter season, with the minimum temperature recorded at 8°C.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, the city will likely witness a maximum temperature of 26°C and a minimum of 7°C over the next 24 hours.
The chilling cold in Karachi is being amplified by chilly winds, which make the temperature feel 2 to 4 degrees colder than it actually is.
The winds are expected to blow at speeds ranging from 5 to 20 kilometers per hour from the north, northeast, and northwest.
The current cold wave, which has its origins in the freezing winds from Balochistan, is expected to persist.
The weather is expected to remain cold and dry for the next 24 hours. Karachi’s temperature on December 28 was 8.5°C.
Earlier, Karachi witnessed a significant drop in temperature on Monday as icy winds from Balochistan intensified the winter chill, with the mercury falling to 9°C, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
The cold weather was amplified by gusty northeastern winds, making it feel 2°C to 4°C colder than the recorded temperature, Express News reported.
Morning fog reduced visibility to 3 kilometres in some parts of the city, creating minor disruptions.
The PMD predicts a dry and cold spell in Karachi over the next 24 hours, with maximum temperatures peaking at 26°C and minimum temperatures possibly dropping to 8°C.
Throughout the day, winds are expected to blow from the northeast at speeds of 5 to 15 kilometres per hour. Residents are advised to prepare for colder nights and mornings as the winter season
