Female students secure top positions

The Karachi Secondary Education Board has announced the results for the 2024 annual matriculation examinations for the General Group (both regular and private) and for students with hearing and speech impairments while female students secured all three top positions.

Acting Controller of Examinations, Tariq Kareem, declared the results for the 9th and 10th-grade General Group (Regular and Private) and for students with hearing and speech disabilities.

Board Secretary Dr Naveed Ahmed commended the teachers and board staff for their dedicated efforts in ensuring the timely release of results. He noted that 16,384 candidates were registered for the General Group exams, 16,131 of whom appeared, while 253 were absent.

In the General Group Regular category, all three top positions were secured by students from Iqra Huffaz School. According to the results, Laiba Bint Muhammad Waseem from Iqra Huffaz Girls Secondary School, Al-Hamra Society, Tipu Sultan Road, secured the first position with 88.45% marks.

Habiba Munir Bint Munir Ahmed, from the same school, claimed the second position with 88.18% marks. The third position was taken by Ansharah Bint Muhammad Taufiq from Iqra Huffaz Girls Secondary School, Block B, North Nazimabad, with 88.09% marks.

A total of 10,845 candidates appeared in the General Group Regular exams, comprising 2,858 boys and 7,817 girls, with an overall pass percentage of 62.65%. Among the successful candidates, 93 students received A-1 grades, 846 secured A grades, 2,085 achieved B grades, 2,581 received C grades, 1,056 earned D grades, and 27 students passed with E grades.

In the Private General Group, 5,456 candidates appeared for the exams, including 3,635 boys and 1,821 girls, with a pass percentage of 51.43%. In this group, 8 students secured A-1 grades, 192 achieved A grades, 789 obtained B grades, 1,268 received C grades, 537 earned D grades, and 12 students passed with E grades.

The overall pass percentage for both the General Group Regular and Private categories stood at 58.86%.

Additionally, in the category of students with hearing and speech impairments, all three top positions were claimed by students from the DEWA Academy for the Deaf, Gulshan-e-Iqbal. 

Amjad Azam, son of Muhammad Azam, secured the first position with 87.45% marks. Maryam Bibi, daughter of Tanveer Ahmed, achieved second place with 89.36% marks. The third position was taken by Taha Ahmed, son of Wasal Ahmed, with 89.00% marks.
