Former Punjab Prisons Inspector General Mirza Shahid Saleem Baig has been arrested by intelligence agencies, according to Express News.
Baig was reportedly taken into custody due to his close connections with secret agencies. Sources indicate that he was arrested from the official IG House residence.
Shahid Saleem Baig served as IG Prisons Punjab for five years and retired before Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan was jailed.
In connection with the same investigation, intelligence agencies have also started questioning former Deputy Superintendent of Adiala Jail Zafar and Superintendent of the Rawalpindi DIG Jail office, Nazim Ali Shah.
It is noteworthy that two former brigadiers, a colonel, and former Deputy Superintendent Muhammad Akram of Adiala Jail are already in custody for allegedly delivering messages to PTI founder Imran Khan from former DG ISI Lt-Gen (retd) Faiz Hameed.
