Nation’s pride, Olympian gold-medalist Arshad Nadeem arrived at the Prime Minister’s House on Tuesday where he was received with a standing ovation by PM Shehbaz Sharif and other government officials.
Nadeem was accompanied by his family and coach Salman Butt on the occasion. He spoke to the audience, thanking the nation for their support and the media for highlighting his story while recalling the great feat.
PM Shehbaz also addressed the audience, lauding the hard work and determination behind Nadeem’s record-breaking success. He added that the government is ready to invest further in the field of sports to reclaim Pakistan’s position on the global stage.
Earlier today, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz at his home in a nearby village close to his hometown Mian Channu.
She presented Nadeem with a cheque for Rs100 million and gifted him a car in recognition of his achievements. He was also give with a personalised number plate PAK 92 97 for the vehicle refering to his record 92.97 metre throw at the Olympics.
The gold-medalist broke a century-old Olympic record by achieving a massive 92.27 metre javelin throw last week at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
