As Muslims worldwide prepare for Eidul Fitr, Saudi Arabia has announced the upcoming holidays for residents, with the number of days off depending on the sighting of the Moon.

Eidul Fitr, which marks the end of Ramadan on Shawwal 1, is celebrated based on the lunar calendar, with months lasting either 29 or 30 days.

Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development has confirmed a four-day holiday for the private and non-profit sectors, set to begin on March 30 and end on April 2, with work resuming on April 3.

Combining this with the Friday-Saturday weekend, employees in the private sector will enjoy a six-day break.

The UAE and Kuwait have also declared their Eidul Fitr holidays.

Kuwait announced a three-day holiday if Eidul Fitr falls on March 30, with offices reopening on April 2. If Eidul Fitr is observed on March 31, employees will get a nine-day break, resuming work on April 6 after combining the two weekends.

In the UAE, the holiday will begin on March 30 if the crescent moon is sighted on March 29, giving government sector employees a four-day holiday until April 1.

If the moon is not sighted, and the month completes 30 days, the break will start on March 31, extending to a five-day holiday from March 29 to April 2.
