KARACHI:
Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari vowed on Friday to wage a determined struggle against religious extremism and terrorism, as he praised the Pakistan Army for bravely defeating the terrorists following the Jaffar Express hijacking this week.
Addressing the inauguration ceremony of ‘I Work for Sindh dot.com’ – an app developed by the Information Department of the provincial government to support the unemployed youth – Bilawal stated that the government was focused on creating opportunities for direct employment.
The ceremony at the Chief Minister’s House was attended by Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, provincial ministers, special assistants, advisers, members of the business community, social media activists, and individuals from diverse fields.
“After the Jaffar Express hijacking, Pakistan’s security forces bravely defeated the terrorists,” Bilawal said, according to a government handout. For which, he added, he paid tribute to the army. He emphasised that a determined struggle would be waged against religious extremism and terrorism.
Speaking about the canal controversy, the PPP chairman told the ceremony that a clear stance had been adopted in the National Assembly. He assured that the PPP’s Sindh government was committed to the public welfare projects in the province.
He highlighted that the people of Sindh wanted greater employment opportunities. “But because of limited availability of government jobs, the government will now focus on creating opportunities for direct employment,” he said.
Bilawal stressed the need for the private sector to play a key role in jobs creation and encouraged its participation in this platform of ‘I Work for Sindh dot.com’ to provide employment opportunities for the skilled youth of Sindh.
On the occasion, he instructed the PPP Youth Wing and the Peoples Students Federation (PSF) to launch a promotional campaign for the app to ensure that as many young people as possible could benefit from it. He reiterated the government’s commitment to maximising the use of modern technology.
