Meta-owned platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, and Threads, are experiencing a significant outage in the US, affecting thousands of users.
According to Downdetector, more than 10,000 reports have been submitted, with Instagram being the most impacted. While the outage appears to be concentrated in the US, users in India have also reported issues.
Downdetector data shows that around 67% of users are facing problems with the Instagram app, including login issues (9%) and server connection problems (25%). The disruptions, which began in the morning, have affected Instagram users across multiple regions of the US.
Despite the widespread issues, Meta has not yet officially acknowledged the outage. The company’s status page indicates that all Meta services, including Instagram, Facebook, and Threads, are operating normally. However, disruptions have also been reported on Workplace from Meta and Messenger.
This outage follows a series of disruptions Meta platforms experienced last year, including a global outage in March that affected Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp.
As users continue to face difficulties accessing the platforms, many have turned to alternative social media sites, such as Twitter, to vent their frustration and seek updates. Downdetector’s data is based on user-reported incidents, so the actual number of affected users may vary.
