A new state-of-the-art 4K Pediatric Laparoscopic Tower has been inaugurated in the Pediatric Department at Civil Hospital.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, medical experts said the new system will enable modern, safe, and effective minimally invasive surgeries for children. With this technology, complex abdominal and chest surgeries in children can now be performed with greater safety. The 4K laparoscopic system will provide significant benefits including less pain, reduced blood loss, lower risk of infection, and faster recovery for patients.
Pediatric Department head Dr Arif Mateen said the new laparoscopic tower will enable approximately 15 to 20 pediatric surgeries per week. He added that the advanced 4K technology will provide clear and high-quality visualization during surgery, which will further improve treatment outcomes.
Senator Waqar Mehdi, addressing the ceremony, said laparoscopic surgeries for children cost millions of rupees in private hospitals, while the Sindh government is continuously investing in the health sector to provide modern and free medical facilities to the public in government hospitals.
He said the government’s objective is to ensure access to advanced treatment for every citizen without discrimination.
Medical Superintendent Dr Khalid Bukhari said the facility should have been started much earlier, but the project was delayed due to late release of budget grants.
