The Taxila Museum, in collaboration with internationally renowned archaeologist Professor Dr Jonathan Mark Kenoyer of the Department of Anthropology at the University of WisconsinMadison, organised a three-day specialised training workshop on the identification, classification and scientific documentation of archaeological beads.
The workshop brought together conservators from the Department of Archaeology, archaeologists, museum professionals, researchers and other heritage experts.
Participants received hands-on training in identifying archaeological beads, typological classification, scientific documentation, condition assessment and modern conservation techniques in line with international standards for the preservation of cultural artefacts.
During the sessions, Prof Kenoyer shared his research and practical experience on the scientific study of archaeological artefacts, particularly ancient beads, highlighting best practices in documentation and conservation based on internationally accepted methodologies.
Experts attending the workshop said such training initiatives play a vital role in strengthening Pakistan’s capacity for the scientific study, documentation and preservation of its rich archaeological heritage.
They described the workshop as an important step towards enhancing professional expertise and promoting the long-term conservation of the country’s cultural heritage.
